Precision Online Newspaper however gathered that some of the political parties used “placeholders” for deputy governorship slots in order to meet INEC deadline of May 20, 2024 for submission of names of contestants.

INEC is expected to publish the final list of candidates for the election on June 18, 2024, after which substitution by the political parties who used placeholders would have been effected.

Political campaigns will kick off on June 19, 2024.
