Nurses in Nigeria have been charged to embrace technology for enhanced care and professional development.
This was the submission of Dr. Mary Edwards, guest lecturer at the 5th Induction ceremony for graduates of Nursing Science, Achievers University Owo.
Dr. Edwards noted that nurses should become vast in technology. In her words, ” this is an era of technology, don’t remain where you are there is a need to become vast in technology,get yourself trained, engage in e-learning platforms to enhanced professional development in the healthcare system”.
She added that the new inducted Nurses should also engage interprofessional practice collaboration as quality healthcare is a product of collaboration in health system.
In his address, the Pro Chancellor and chairman governing Council of Achievers University, Hon. (Dr.) Bode Ayorinde advised the new inductees not to forget the ethics of the profession which is “caring”, ‘you are to care for this sick”, he added. He however promised to give scholarship to all the first-class graduate Nurses for their Msc and PhD studies.
Speaking earlier the Vice Chancellor of Achievers University Owo, Prof. Omolola Irinoye congratulated the inductees. In her words, ” I congratulate all the inductees whose training thus far have prepared them with the knowledge, skills and ethical foundations required for excellence and professionalism in nursing. Let me use this opportunity to remind you the inductees that the journey ahead demands empathy, perseverance and a deep sense of responsibility.”
The Registrar, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Alhaji Daji Alhassan who was represented by Mrs Stella Godswill formally welcome the new inductees into the Nursing professional while taking the oath.
Awards were given to the best graduating student of the Faculty of Nursing Science, Nurse Olatunji Baale Oluwaseun,best leadership award, Nurse Awoniyi Inioluwa
best in character, Nurse Akadiri Idowu Ezekiel and
best in Research,Nurse Ajayi Desmond
A total of 143 graduate nurses were inducted into the Noble Nursing profession at the 5th induction ceremony for graduate Nurses at Achievers University Owo.
