No fewer than 3000 students have taken the oath of allegiance at the second matriculation ceremony of University of Ilesa (UNILESA), Ilesa, Osun State.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Taiwo Asaolu congratulated the fresh students, urging them to be up and doing as the University has provided enabling environment to make them succeed.
“There is no doubt that being offered admission into the University of Ilesa brings you to a totally new environment. This is because the University of Ilesa and/or any other University for that matter, is a rule-ordered environment where you will all be guided, all through your stay here as students, by well-tested academic principles, norms, procedures, rules and regulations to help you achieve your individual aims and objectives which will be narrowed down to a singular goal – that of graduating from this University with a good honours degrees.In order to achieve the foregoing, the University on its part, has provided adequate facilities (physical and e-libraries, books, lecture halls, laboratories) and other items of equipment that will enhance teaching and learning in serene, peaceful and conductive atmosphere”.
Prof. Asaolu also advised the new students to shun cultism and other inappropriate behaviors, as no form of inappropriate behaviors will be tolerated from any Students by the University.
“As freshly-admitted students, I would like to give you all the benefit of the doubt that you will all abide by the rules and regulations of the University of Ilesa while participating fully and happily in all our lawful activities. In this wise, I charge you to show full commitment to your studies and justify your selection and offer of admission into this University to study and become better persons”, he added.
“I am aware that many of you are presently living outside the University campus. Please, ensure that you relate peacefully with members of your host communities. I enjoin you to be good and worthy ambassadors of our University. The University is trying her very best to increase the capacities of the students’ hostels on campus as the ultimate goal is to ensure that a large number of our students live on campus”.
The University of Ilesa, Ilesa, Osun State, was established on 27th September, 2022, sequel to the upgrade of the erstwhile Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to a full-fledged University and had its First Matriculation ceremony 12th December, 2023.
