Christians have been urged to reflect on their spiritual journey and relationship with God as they observed ash Wednesday today

This was contained in this year’s 2025 Lenten Message to Christians in Ondo State on Ash Wednesday by the State’s Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Ondo State Chapter, Reverend. Father. Anselm Olorunfemi Ologunwa.

In a statement by his director, information and communications, Mr Daisi Ajayi, Reverend Father Ologunwa called on Christians to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth.

He noted that when they compromised their values and lowered the standard of holiness, the faithful risked conveying the wrong message to the community.

The Bible reminds us to flee from temptations, yet we often find ourselves surrounded by people who disregard the dangers of sin”.

“In these forty days of Lenten season, I urge you to have a deeper introspection and reflection on your relationship with God.”

” Indeed, we often find ourselves with situations that test our faith and resolve, which calls for Christian duty and mission.”

Reading from 1 Corinthians 10:13, the can chairman explained that the faithful would never be tempted beyond what they could bear pointing out that when they were tempted, God would also provide a way out so that they could endure

“As Christians, we are called to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth.”

“We must be mindful of the temptations that surround us and take deliberate steps to avoid them.”

He therefore encouraged Christians to Pray for strength and guidance, seek the divine strength to resist temptation and the guidance to make wise choices.

The CAN chairman who advised them against sin especially When facing temptation, called for the Support of one another urged the faithful to Use the Lenten season to deepen their relationship with God through prayer, fasting, and reading His Words.

“In Ondo State and Nigeria as a whole, we are faced with numerous challenges that test our faith and resolve. But as Christians, we must not succumb to the temptations of sin and immorality.”

Father Ologunwa described as uncomfortable where some men of God compromised their values thus lowering the standard of holiness, charging them to re-examine their roles as mentors and leaders in the Christian community.

“As people no longer read the Bible properly; they read us. They observe our actions, our words, and our behaviour. Let us reflect on how we are mentoring those entrusted to our care in this Christian journey.”

The CAN Chairman urged the faithful to pray for mercy and guidance and asked God to touch their hearts for renewal commitment to living a holy life as they journey through Lent
