The workshop titled “Enhancing inclusive Agricultural

Agricultural sector in Ondo State” is aimed at increasing stakeholder

Development Organisation (LAPDO) in collaboration with United States
Agency For International Development (USAID) and Partnership Initiatives
in the Niger Delta (PIND), had in attendance the wife of Ondo State
Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu, Chairman, House Committee
on Agriculture, Hon. Towase Kuti, Rep. From the facilitators, women
farmers among others.

Consultant, Kazeem Balogun while disseminating the research findings on
supportive environment for women farmers in Ondo State, recommended
that, there should be need for a new Agricultural Policy in Ondo State.
He also lauded the present administration in the State for increasing
the budget allocation to Agricultural Sector from 1.17% in 2016 to 5.12%
in 2017.

She also reiterated some of the achievements of
the present government in the agricultural sector since assumption of
office; allocation to agriculture in the 2017 budget was the highest in
the last 7years, allocating 150,000 hectares of land to boost cocoa, oil
palm and cassava product among others.

incomes for women especially in the rural areas.

Women Farmers while reacting, appreciated the first lady for supporting
the initiative and urged her to use her office in pressurizing the
state government to give out loans to the women farmers.
