In a clear departure from the norm since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in Ondo state, the state government has kept mum about the details of the ninth case.
The new case was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday night.
The usual tradition has been that the governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu announced the new case on his verified Twitter handle and Facebook page while the state commissioner for information or health as the case may be, give more details about the case.

But on Thursday night, residents of the state got to know about the ninth case when the NCDC reeled out statistics of new cases across the country.
While residents of the state would be eager to know a few detail about the new case which had been the tradition since the state recorded its index case through a military officer working at Owena barracks, it is not clear whether the state government has now changed its tradition of announcing new cases ahead of the NCDC.
The index case had since been discharged alongside one other covid-19 patient after both tested negative twice.
