The former Chairman of the Nigerian House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumini Jibrin has been suspended following controversies surrounding the budget padding allegations he raised in July about some principal officers of the house.

With the development, Mr Jibrin will be out of plenary for 180 legislative days which will be more than one year.
The motion suspending Mr Jibrin was recommended by the Chairman house committee on ethics,  Mr Nicholas Ossai and adopted by the whole house. The APC Kano lawmaker will not also participate in any legislative process for the whole of the suspension term.
The suspension also means that Mr Jibrin won’t be receiving salaries and allowances and should not be seen at the premises of the National Assembly.
