Former Governor of Ekiti State and Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Kayode Fayemi, is set to arrive Edo today, June 22nd, for a 2-day workshop on Solid Minerals tagged ‘Exploring the Solid Minerals potentials of Edo state.

workshop, which, according to Governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, will chart Edo
state’s road map on ways to fully exploit its deposit of solid minerals
and generate revenue.

Commencing with an opening ceremony this evening by 5pm, the workshop will hold for two days and end by Friday, 23rd of June, 2017,
during which time, stakeholders and experts will deliberate extensively
on ways to make the mining sector viable for the state’s economy.

The
statement read in part: “Edo state, according to research by experts,
is rich in such minerals as Gold, Limestone, Marble, Gypsum, Granite and
Bitumen, and has about 263 mining licenses, which span a whole variety
of solid minerals.”
In
addition, it was revealed that Edo State is making plans to create
zones through solid minerals and the minister would be driving the
workshop on solid minerals.
