North Korea fired a missile from near Pyongyang that flew over Japan and toward the Pacific Ocean, South Korea said Friday.

Japan’s public broadcaster NHK said “the government is advising people to stay away from anything that could be missile debris.”
Citing the Japanese government, NHK added that the missile landed in
the ocean about 1,240 miles off the cape of Erimo in Hokkaido at around 7:16 a.m. local time.
The launch comes just hours after the rogue nation threatened to
“sink” Japan and reduce the US mainland into “ash and darkness” in North
Korean state media. The threat came in response to the United Nations
Security Council’s unanimous approval of additional sanctions on North
Korea.
