The convener of the Women Empowering Women Conference, Precious Ogbonna says the conference is aimed at transforming women for generational gains.

Mrs Ogbonna reiterated this assertion at the end of the one day women conference tagged rediscovering the essence of womanhood, held in Akure, the Ondo state capital on Saturday.

According to her, every woman is special and should be celebrated for their successes. She noted that the conference has provided a platform for the participants, who are women, to voice out their challenges, while proffering solutions to them.

The author added that her joy is that the messages from the conference will resonate in the mind of the participants and would be passed through generations.

Participants at the conference were drawn from the media, public and civil service, private sector, medical profession, etc.

Other speakers at the conference urged women to prioritize their wellness over personal gains.

Director of Planning, Research & Statistics at the Ondo state primary healthcare development agency, Dr. Yetunde Olagbuji in her lecture, encouraged women to discover themselves by prioritizing activities that will give them fulfilment.

Dr. Olagbuji while adding that women should work towards overcoming stereotypes, urged them to move with people who will impact them positively.

She advised them to jettison activities that could distract them from achieving their goals and purpose in life. She maintained that women who are above 40 years should go for regular medical checkup.

Another speaker, Mrs Temitope Momoh, a Quantity Surveyor, observed that the society has not favoured women in certain instances. But urged them to understand this as part of the process to womanhood.

“The fact that you are rejected on many platforms does not mean you won’t go far in life. Just don’t relent,” she said.

Another speaker, Mrs Bukola Oladeji emphasized the need for women to prioritize their mental health. She added that they need to invest in programmes geared towards their self-development.

A panel discussion on sisterhood and friendship was one of the highlights of the event. The convener also presented her new book, “Ink & Introspection, gratitude day by day” to the participants.
