Olowolabi Tasks Media Organisations On Social Responsibility | The Precision

Media organisations in Ondo State have been
charged to scale up their corporate social responsibility by airing for
free public interest messages transmitted to them by the state
government, as a way of embracing the tenets of journalism profession
viz a viz creation of public awareness against endemics like lassa fever
in the state.
 
The Ondo State Commissioner for Information and
Orientation, Mr Yemi Olowolabi, threw the challenge while playing host
to management staff of Radio Nigeria, Positive FM, Akure in his office in
Akure, the Ondo State Capital on Tuesday.
 
The Commissioner said “It is part of the social
responsibility of any media outfit operating in the state to assist the
government in creating more awareness and sensitize the people about the
outbreak of Lassa fiver in the state, through their news and
programmes,which would go a long way to safe lives.
 
Mr.Olowolabi added that the state government is ready to
partner media outfits  in the state in order to keep the public updated
on government activities,noting that Media houses operating in the
state would be carried along in the first anniversary celebration of
Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, led administration in the state.
 
Speaking earlier, the General Manager, Radio Nigeria,
Positive FM, Akure, Deacon Femi Oladipo congratulated the Commissioner
on his appointment as the spokesman for the government, saying his
appointment was a round peg in a round hole.
 
The General Manager, on behalf of the station solicited
more patronage from the government, stressing that the station is ready
to cooperate with the government for efficient coverage.
