Some of the Dapchi schoolgirls |
Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Ondo state chapter has berated the state’s Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), John Oladapo over his recent comments on the released Dapchi schoolgirls whereby one of the girls – a christian was not released.
The CAN chairman had alleged in a statement after the girls release that the failure to secure the release of the only christian girl (Leah Sharibu) among the schoolgirls was part of the grand plan by President Buhari to Islamise the country and wipe out Christianity.
In the statement signed by the General Secretary of NSCIA, Abdulazeez Sirajudeen, described the statement issued by the CAN chairman as unreverend, unholy and reckless which was geared towards undermining the peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Ondo state.
Mr Sirajudeen who requested for a live media discussion on the issue with the CAN chairman noted that such unpatriotic comment should not be entertained in public sphere.
He said, “I would have loved any media house in Ondo State to organise a live discussion between i Sirajudeen Abdulazeez Folayemi the General Secretary of Ondo State NSCIA and Rev. John Oladapo Ondo State CAN Chairman on his recent outburst about plans by PMB administration to wipe out Christianity in Nigeria /Islamization and the release of the Dapchi School girls.
“But before then let me say categorically that his statement is best described as unreverend, unholy, irresponsible, reckless, nauseating and unpatriotic this is to say the least! His statement portrays threats and it is dangerous to the age long peaceful coexistence between the Muslims and the Christians Faithful’s in Ondo State. The earlier the spurious release is corrected within the public domaine the better,” the statement read.
