A leading 2023 Oyo state Governorship hopeful, who also doubles as the Osi Basorun of Ibadanland, Dr Azeez Popoola Adeduntan has congratulated the new Olubadan-Elect Oba Moshood Lekan Balogun on his approval by the state government on Monday as the 42nd OLUBADAN OF IBADAN LAND.
This is contained in a statement in Ibadan through the media office of the world renowned International cardiovascular Surgeon on Monday February 14th 2022.
He urged Oba LEKAN BALOGUN to follow in the worthy and commendable footsteps of his predecessors, by working diligently for peace and development in Ibadan, Oyo State and Nigeria.
It is of public knowledge that the new Olubadan Elect and Osi Basorun Adeduntan are very close and inseparable brothers.
Adeduntan, a former commissioner of health in the State, had known the new Olubadan Elect at very close quarters, since 2010 when he supported his candidacy as the Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the State in 2011 physically, materially and financially.
“Olubadan Elect Balogun had since then acted as my senior brother, confidant and adviser in whatever I do with uncommon love and support.
“There has been no event organized by Chief (DR) Azeez Adeduntan, that Kaabiyesi Elect was ever absent.”
He was the Co-chairman at the launch of Dr Azeez Popoola Adeduntan’s foundation (DAPAF) in 2014, with Gen. Yakubu Gowon, ably represented by Late Emeritus Professor of Medicine, Akinkugbe.
In 2014, at the one year anniversary of Nigerian ALERT newspaper published by Chief (DR) Azeez Adeduntan in 2015, and most importantly during the chieftaincy title,honour and reception for OSI BASORUN of IBADAN LAND, bestowed on ADEDUNTAN, by the late OBA Saliu ADETUNJI meritoriously on November 8th 2019, where he led members of the OLUBADAN in council, to honour the epochal event approvingly.
“OBA Lekan BALOGUN has elevated the status of the royal chair of IBADAN LAND by being the first Ph.D holder to mount the stool.”
According to the statement, Chief Dr Azeez Popoola Adeduntan joins the indigenes of Ibadan, the family of the new Olubadan and people of Oyo State in celebrating Oba Balogun’s appointment and ascension to the ancient throne of his forefathers.
He also called on Oba Elect to do his utmost best, in his new role as the chief custodian of the traditions of his people, to preserve and propagate the admirable culture and customs of Ibadan land.
Chief Dr. Adeduntan assured the new Olubadan of his full support and cooperation “as he strives to lead his people forward and contribute meaningfully to the development of his domain, Oyo State and the nation’’.
He prayed that Almighty God would grant Oba Elect long life, good health and the wisdom he needs for a successful reign.
