Workers of the University of Medical Sciences under the Joint Action Committee that comprises SSANU and NASU members on Tuesday conducted a peaceful protest to demand payment of their N35000 wage award.

The workers who carried various placards to demand for payment of the wage award commenced the protest as early as 7.30am.

The protest led by the Chairman of SSANU, Seyi Abayomi was conducted at the Odosida and Laje campuses of the University.

The federal government had last year announced a wage award of N35,000 as palliative to workers to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

Subsequently, the Ondo state government promised to pay its workers the wage award.

The protesting staff of UNIMED are, however lamenting that the wage award has not been paid to them, appealing to the government to look into the delay.

The protesters also called for the implementation of 2019 till date minimum Wage and arrears.
