It was a moment of joy as the first set of graduate nurses of Elizade University were inducted as Professional Nurses by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Prof. Kayode Ijadunola in his remarks, hailed the outstanding performance of the graduands who came out with 100 percent pass in both Nursing and Midwifery Professional examinations.

He also commended the untiring commitment of the lecturers as well as the entire management of Elizade University for the great feat.

He equally acknowledged the great and selfless investment of the founder of Elizade University, Chief Michael Ade Ojo who has spared no resources to bring up Elizade University and all its programmes to global standard with best practices.

Professor Ijadunola pleaded with the Federal government to earnestly work towards removing the prevailing toxic work environment in Nigeria that prevents professionals, particularly health workers from staying back in the country.
He observed that no amount of health workers produced in Nigeria will be enough as long as the environment remains toxic, equipment and facilities are not provided and professionals are not incentivized.

The Vice-Chancellor however charged the inductees to prioritize their career plan for upward movement and make their parents proud, while also not forgetting their alma mater.

Guest Speaker, Professor Omolola Irinoye, who is the Vice-Chancellor of Achievers University, Owo, asked the Inductees to be conscious of emerging extensive technology invasion, the challenging healthcare environment and social situations which they should constantly adjust to.

She said they must seek to update their competencies, move along the ladder of professional growth and transform to experts, as they fulfill God’s purpose in achieving personal fulfillment.

Professor Irinoye whose paper dwelled on “Fulfilling Purpose and Successful Navigation of the Career Path in Nursing Profession in the 21st Century” said the inductees are to demonstrate sound knowledge, skills, positive attitudes in the practice of the Nursing profession as they serve humanity in fulfilling the purpose of serving God.

The Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria Dr Farouk Umar Abubakar who was represented by Mrs Adekemi Awe said each client that they would care for has a unique story and they as multi-tasking graduate Nurses “hold the pen, to script positive chapters in their health care experience.”

Acting Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Dr Omotola Dada said the quality of training the inductees have received from Elizade University has positioned them for a pivotal role in achieving sustainable health care coverage not just for academic and clinical excellences but to become the next generation of Nurse leaders.

Head of Department, Nursing Science, Dr Alice Ogundele, challenged them to embrace the values of empathy, integrity and continuous learning.

Responding on behalf of the Inductees, the Valedictorian, Miss Yadah Joe-Imana promised that they would make their parents and Elizade University their alma-mater proud.

The first Induction ceremony of the newly graduated Professional Nurses (B.NSc.) of Elizade University is made up of 23 graduands with hundred percent success in both the Nursing Council and Post-basic Midwifery examinations.
