Proposed Teaching Hospital: Ondo Govt Solicits Support Of Traditional Rulers | The Precision

In continuation of consultation of Committee on Integration of State Owned Health Institution to establish Teaching Hospital in Ondo State, the committee today met with the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo and his chiefs in his palace to seek for the support of the traditional institution towards  the establishment of Teaching Hospital in the state.

 

Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman, Sub Committee on Integration of State Owned Health Institutions, Mr. Alaba Isijola, reiterated the determination of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, to turn the state around.
The Chairman, who is also the  Special Adviser to Governor on Union Matters, noted that the government is planning to upgrade health facilities in the medical village in Ondo, State specialist hospitals in Ondo and Akure and School of Nursing and Midwifery Akure to the proposed Teaching Hospital in the state.
Mr. Isijola, said that when the project is completed it would be a medical tourist centre to the state and another source of Internally Generated Revenue to boost economic base of the state.
He, therefore, solicited for the cooperation of the kingdom towards the achievement of the proposed project for the benefit of people in the state.
In the same vein, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi, noted that there is a law guiding the operation of School of Nursing and Midwifery to upgrade to degree awarding institution by affiliating to university in the country.
He stressed that the school of nursing and midwifery in Akure would soon be the Degree Awarding Institution in the state.
In his response, the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo, thanked the state government for the proposed project and assured the support of the kingdom to make the project realisable
Osemawe informed that all courses in the State University of Medical Sciences have been accredited including the postgraduate courses
The traditional ruler , expressed the readiness of the kingdom to support the initiative of the state government for upgrading health centres in the state.
On his  part, the Sarowo of Ondo, Chief Isaac Akintade lauded the governor for keeping his promises in developing the state and promised that the kingdom would give necessary support for the actualisation of the project.
