In the spirit of 2020 Ramadan fast and effort to cushion the effects of COVID-19 lockdown, the Nasrul-Lahil-Faith Society (NASFAT), Akure Branch has provided foodstuffs to over 200 families and households who are its members and non-members in the Ondo state capital and its adjoining towns like Obaile.
According to the society, over 100 less privileged people benefitted from the COVID-19 palliative packages of the foremost Islamic group organized over one month ago to help the beneficiaries beat the harsh economic realities in the country.
Also on Thursday 7th, May 2020 as part of her Annual Ramadan Iftar and Sahur food materials programme of reaching out to the needy among Muslims in the state, NASFAT Akure Branch distributed food items such as rice and beans to about 140 faithful.

At the beginning of the Ramadan iftar programme held at the NASFAT Secondary, Obaile in Akure North Council area, the Branch Chairman of the Society, Alhaji Sulaiman said the humanitarian gesture was part of the commitments of the religious group to put smiles on the faces of the indigents in Akure, Obaile and their environs.
He said the food items distributed to the families and individuals would sustain them for weeks.
Alhaji Sulaiman noted that COVID-19 pandemic did not allow NASFAT members to move round houses of their fellow Muslims to break fast known as iftar, adding that the government’s protocols on COVID-19 were observed during the sharing of the foodstuffs to the beneficiaries.
According to the NASFAT Chairman, the outbreak of COVID-19 came as an emergency and as such, wealthy individuals must endeavour to also assist the needy in the society at this critical time.
He used the occasion to sensitize and advise Muslim faithful to obey various precautionary measures against deadly coronavirus pandemic.
