The state executive committee meeting of the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has ended in crisis in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
The Precision NG reports that some aggrieved members of the union marched to the venue of the meeting with placards in their hands to protest the 50 percent salary paid them by the state government.
The nurses claimed their leaders have compromised, querying why they refuse to order for an industrial action.
Just last week, Doctors under the auspices of Ondo Government Doctors Forum (OGDF) began an indefinite strike action.
The aggrieved nurses chased out labour leaders who were at the meeting to mediate in the development.
They also expressed their readiness to pull out of the Joint Health Workers Union.
“We cannot continue to work on empty stomach until all their allowances are paid,” they said.
