As Christmas and New Year beckon, Mr Babatunde Faro recently organized a get-together with widows, orphans and persons living with disabilities (PLWDs) at his private residence in Akure.

“I make it apolitical; no political colouration is attached to it; it’s purely a programme organized to reach out to the downtrodden in the society and shows that we care about them”.
The Rep Hopeful added that, the season of Christmas is about giving, sharing, expression of love and showing love to people around.
In his words, “I feel excited to have fulfilled my dreams of many years. I dreamt of this day seven to eight years ago. One thing that gives me joy is seeing people in my locality benefiting from the little resources God has given to me “.
He said over 200 people benefited from the Xmas palliative, noting that the second editions which has been slated for Easter will be all inclusive as many people will be included with empowerment to some people.
Mr Faro stressed that, the essence of life and humanity is sharing with your neighbor the little you have, saying giving to humanity is more rewarding than spending on frivolities and show of wealth to spite the poor.
He urged people to reflect on the importance of the birth of the savour, Jesus Christ and its redemptive love to billions of people around the world.
While charging the well to do in the society to cultivate the habit of reaching out to the less privileged in the society, saying the more they do so, the more their blessings from God.
In the same vein, his mother, Mrs Omolola Faro described Christmas as a season of love, commending the step taken by Babatubde Faro to extend love to the widows, orphans and special persons at this yuletide period, urging the rich in the society to always consider the downtrodden while living in opulence.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Abidoye thanked Faro for the love extended to widows and less privileged at this season, saying whatever he gives will go a long way in reducing hardship in the household of beneficiaries as they celebrate Christmas.
She suggested that, subsequent edition of the program should involve empowerment of certain number of people aside wining and dining. ” If it is just ten people, as spirit directed, you can empower them with certain amount of money to start a business because it is better to teach a person how to fish than giving him fish”.
Meanwhile, rice and cash were giving to the beneficiaries.
