It is no more news that the Government of Sokoto State for political expediency is hell bent at dethroning the Highly revered Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR, the Sultan of Sokoto. They have turned deaf ear to the voice of wisdom from very important personalities in the country. Even after the Vice President educate the Government of Sokoto state on the person and personality of Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR, the government of Sokoto went ahead to deny any plan to dethrone one of the most influential global Muslim personality. (The Sokoto state government should know and appreciate the person and personality of His Eminence more than a Kanuri Man).
Is it not obvious that the Government of Ahmad Aliyu is building on the foundation laid by Umar Ganduje and reinforced by Abba Yusuf which has notoriously brought Kano to headlines of our national dailies.

In a bid to dethrone Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, His Excellency Umar Ganduje revised the Kano Emirate laws and that paved way for the eventual removal of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir of Kano. The same template was used by Governor Abba Yusuf and an unsuccessful attempt was made to remove Ado Bayero and reinstate SLS. His Excellency Ahmad Aliyu is acting the Kano script and at the same time denying the obvious end result playing with the intelligence of Nigerian and most especially the Muslim Ummah, what an audacity.

His Excellency Ahmad Aliyu and his government should be reminded that Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR is not only the Sultan of Sokoto but the leader of over 150 million Muslims in this great Country.

In the history of Sokoto, no sultan has brought the Muslims in this country together in unison as does by his Eminence, Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR. His activities has not only raise the status of the Sultanate but has made Sokoto the Mecca of Nigerian Muslim leaders from all the geo-political zones. Very important personalities in the Country visit Sokoto to pay homage to this great Muslim leader and the government of Sokoto state.

Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR has made the sultanate a celebrated seat, a pride and reference to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah. He has successfully amalgamated the Northern and Southern Muslim dichotomy that today Muslim from all over the Country can proudly say, we have a leader.

Dethroning this great personality, will not be in the best interest of Sokoto State, it’s government and the great people of Sokoto. Above all it will bring about a great disservice, disrepute and dishonor to the Muslim Ummah of this Country.
What we as Muslim Ummah expect from the Sokoto state government and Governor Ahmad Aliyu is to further strengthen and reinforce the power and influence of His Eminence Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR and the Sultanate. Governor Ahmad Aliyu should build on the legacies of past administration in empowering Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR and make him a true Seriki of the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria. After all Sokoto is nothing without Islamic heritage. He should be protected from the Control of politics, power and government, he should be granted an immunity from dethronement and his influence expanded. By so doing history will be lenient with you and your name will be written in gold.

This eminent and illustrious son of Sokoto who is a symbol of global peace and unity is not only a pride to the Nigerian Muslim Ummah but has been a pride to the global Muslim Community. Sokoto state government should not thrash this feat because of politics. Politics and politicking will expire but our footprint will remain indelible for life.

We appeal to Governor Ahmad Aliyu and his administration to preserve the revered sit of the Sultan and to avoid any political brigandage that will demean or reduce the influence and authority of Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR paving way for his rumored dethronement. This we believe will affect the peace in Sokoto and will gravely affect the Muslim Ummah of this Nation. This political jingoism is capable of bringing back the Muslim Ummah of this nation to the dark old days of Northern and Southern Muslim Dichotomy. It will not do the Muslims in this country any good and worst the good people of Sokoto State.

We call on The President and Commander in chief of the Armed forces Alhaji Ahmed Bola Tinubu GCFR to prevail on Governor Ahmad Aliyu and his government to halt whatever plan they have as long as it will lead to diminishing the power and influence of His Eminence Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III CFR, or worst lead to his dethronement.

May Allah continue to protect and preserve the Muslim Ummah and its leadership.
