Akinkuotu narrated how the police officers have controlled the protest through the use of teargas canisters which had been resisted by the protesters.

He shared his experience on his Facebook profile on Thursday, August 1, 2024, the day the protest commenced.

“Before and after photos of the #endbadgovernance protests. On the left was how it started. On the right is after I inhaled teargas. The police have fired over 50 teargas canisters so far. But these defiant people are throwing them back,” he said.

The protest had been largely peaceful across the country with pockets of violence reported in cities like Niger, Borno and Kano.

In Lagos, Oyo and Osun, the protesters have conducted themselves peacefully, while states like Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo witnessed low turned out.
