Ondo: PSTI Trains Teachers On Artificial Intelligence

No fewer than 1,000 Teachers in Ondo State would be trained on Artificial Intelligence (AI) courtesy the Ondo State Public Service Training Institute (PSTI), Ilara-Mokin in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Segun Agunbiade, information officer of the PSTI reports that the development is part of the SEEDS agenda of the State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications to aid teaching and research is a path towards achieving academic excellence and economic prosperity for the state.

Speaking with newsmen in Ilara-Mokin, the Permanent Secretary/Director General of the Institute, Dr. Olumide Asere said the training programme was essential for teachers in Ondo State as the workforce should not be left behind in this digital age.

He further stressed that innovation has become an integral part of every aspect of human lives, including education which forms one of the pillars of economic development.

Earlier in his address, the Director-General stated that with rapid advancement in technology, teachers and Students should be exposed to wide range of tools that could aid their teaching and learning journey. He emphasized AI revolutionary impact on education by making learning more engaging, interactive and effective.

Dr. Olumide Asere charged the participants at the event on the need to utilize the opportunity for optimum performance and excellent service delivery for the benefit of all.

The PS/DG reteirated the commitment of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to improving the education sector through capacity building midwifed by the Public Service Training Institute. Dr. Olumide Asere emphasized that the challenges faced by Teachers in using analogue system of teaching, would be a thing of the past with the intervention of Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s technology-enabled initiatives and programmes.

The flag off of the training programme was held on Thursday at the Institute while training of other participants would be done in other designated centres across the State.
